Mission & Values
The creation of Move & Invest Medellín (also known as MI Medellín) is first and foremost a result of Lauren’s love and passion for this incredible city she’s called home since 2017. Relocating, moving, and investing abroad are no small feats, especially when language and culture barriers are present. Lauren, a bilingual American expat who’s lived in Medellín for 5+ years, is your connection to it all. The mission of M.I. Medellín can be perfectly encompassed by the local Paisa phrase ‘estar amañado’:
amañado [ah-mahn-YA-thoh] – to be pleased or comfortable; well-adapted, or at home

Lauren’s Story
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, USA, Lauren’s experience in Latin America began with an immersion trip to the Dominican Republic at age 17. Later during college, she spent three months in El Salvador interning at a human rights nonprofit and one year studying abroad in Lima, Peru. It was during her year abroad that she visited Medellín for the first time in December of 2015. She knew she wanted to have an abroad living experience after college, and Medellín checked off all her boxes. She graduated with a B.S. in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey and moved to Medellín two months later. Lauren currently resides in the city and calls Medellín home.

Lauren officially began her YouTube journey as La Gringa Latina in early 2019. Her YouTube, in fact, first began as a blog in 2017 when she first moved to Medellín. Her videos touch on the language, history, and culture of Latin America as a traveler and expat abroad. Most all videos on this channel are in Spanish, so if you are practicing and want to watch fun and entertaining content, subscribe now!
In this NEW YouTube channel Lauren will provide content exclusively for expats and travellers in Medellín as part of her mission to help those who are moving and investing in the City of Eternal Spring. It will cover a wide range of topics from how to find an apartment to dating to current events and more! All of these videos will be in English and serve more as an informational and educational source of content.
